Manual clusters allow you to bring your own keywords to be used for the articles in the cluster - giving you full control over the cluster's composition. This is extremely useful if you have an SEO strategy in mind and are closely choosing your own target keywords with the help of keyword tools like or (or any other tool you are using).

Constructing a cluster correctly takes some skill and knowledge - you have to be aware of the keyword intent and overlap to avoid cannibalization. The keywords also have to be suitable for the topic and audience that you define for the cluster.

If you get this wrong, the content might not be so great and could cause issues for your rankings.

Creating a manual cluster

Manual cluster can be created using the Manual Cluster option

You need to provide at least 3 keywords to create a cluster - each keyword will result in a single article in the cluster. We don't currently allow you to specify secondary keywords, the platform will optimize this internally.

To save time, you can also provide a title for each resulting article by adding it after the keyword, separated by a comma.

The format can be tricky to get right! You should avoid adding any special characters to the keywords and titles - and don't leave any empty lines.

That's it, you now have a cluster with your own keywords - what a pro!
