Machined lets you connect to unlimited WordPress sites to publish content directly.

There are two ways to connect to WordPress:

Connecting Automatically

Connecting automatically is super simple, the connection process opens a new browser window which takes you to your WordPress authorization site to approve our connection. Approving the connection is all you need to do, we will do the rest :)

Connecting Manually

While the manual process is a little bit more involved, it is still fairly simple:

Create an Application Password

In order to connect Machined to you WordPress site, you first need to create an Application Password.

You can either watch this short helpful video or follow the step-by-step guide below.

Step-by-step guide

  1. Log into WordPress

    • You should log in with the user account that has the correct permissions to create posts - we recommend that you use an admin account to avoid permission issues.

    • Be aware that this user will show as the default author for articles - but we always post as draft and you can change the author manually in the post.

  2. Navigate to your "Profile" page

  3. Scroll down until you see the "Application Passwords" section

  4. Create an Application Password for Machined

    • Type "machined" for the name

    • Click the "Add New Application Password" button

  5. Congratulations! You now have an application password!

Leave this page open as you will need this password in the next step (or copy it to a safe place)...

Configure your WordPress connection in Machined

  1. Log into Machined

  2. Open the configuration panel

  3. Click "Connect" on one of the WordPress connections

  4. Enter your WordPress connection details

    • The domain is your website's domain (excluding the https://)

    • The username is your username, (NOT the name of the application password)

    • The application password is the password you generated in the previous section

  5. Click "Connect" to test the connection

  6. Ensure that your site shows as connected

  7. Congratulations! You have connected Machined to your WordPress site!
